PhpWebGallery :: presentation

Introduction

PhpWebGallery is a web application that enables you to create images gallery online easily. It also provides many advanced features which will make advanced webmasters happy. A proverb that applies well to PhpWebGallery would be "making easy things easy and hard things possible" (inspired from Perl programming language).

Pre-requisites

web server enabling PHP scripts (such as Apache)
MySQL database

But don't panic, if you don't have this available on your personnal computer, you can install PhpWebGallery on many internet hosting providers, you simply need PHP and MySQL.

Downloads

All releases and builds are downloadable in the dedicated download area. In addition to archives listed below, you'll find MD5 sums of archives, letting you control whether your download succeeded or not.

Bug Tracker and Wish list

A bug tracker system is available at bugs.phpwebgallery.net. The bug tracking system uses another free software tools : Mantis.

You can also use the bugtracker to add feature requests : you simply have to report a bug with a severity set to "feature".

Getting help

Installation

PhpWebGallery installation is simplified to the maximum in order to be possible for a maximum of webmasters without needing to understand PHP.

extract files with 7-zip or with tar command (tar -xvzf phpwebgallery-x.y.z.tar.gz)
place source files on your website in the directory of your choice (gallery for example).
go to the URL [http://your.domain/gallery/install.php]
follow the instructions of installation

Online Documentation

Instructions available in each PhpWebGallery installation are completed by an online wiki documentation. Wiki purpose is to let anyone modify existing pages or create new ones. Everyone is encouraged to participate.

Need assistance

A forum is available and recommended for any question (installation, discussions)

Before asking any question on the forum, do not hesitate to [search] for related topics... other users may have found same bugs, had same requests.

PhpWebGallery forum is a place open to every one. Please be always respectful in this place. Consider also that clear messages (with simple and direct subjects) are always prefered. It is forbidden (and useless) to say that your question is "urgent", you won't be answered in priority.
